De geschiedenis van het Halcyon bal

In de geschiedenisboeken staat dat Halcyon aangevallen werd door een groep rebellen die de macht over het koninkrijk wilde hebben. Zij vonden dat de koninklijke familie van de troon gestoten moest worden en dat er in plaats daarvan een democratie zou moeten komen. Maar volgens velen zou dit niet bij het koninkrijk en de tradities van het land passen. De mensen hebben veel inspraak en de koning en koningin luisteren naar hun volk en nemen hun meningen serieus.

De slag om Lightide

Tijdens dit gevecht vielen er aan beide kanten vele gewonden en doden. Koning Ryland, Koningin Anissa en drie van hun vier kinderen (prins Alwin, prinses Shira en prinses Yelena) werden vermoord. Alleen Kroonprinses Helena overleefde de strijd.  Prins Alwin en prinses Yelena zijn samen begraven. Helaas is het lichaam van prinses Shira nooit gevonden..

Tijdens het feest worden alle gesneuvelde mensen herdacht en wordt de vrijheid van het koninkrijk gevierd. 

Volgens sommige is deze slag echter niet gebeurd zoals hij in de geschiedenisboeken staat. Er zijn mensen die denken dat de koninklijke familie mensen had ingehuurd om de slag in scene te zetten. Zij denken dat de familie iets groots nodig had om weer in de gunst te komen bij het volk. Een grote veldslag om de hoofdstad zou dan perfect zijn..

Wat is er gebeurd?

Tijdens het bal hadden de deelnemers de kans om achter de mysteries omtrent de 'Slag om Lightide' te komen. Sommige hadden precies door hoe het zat, anderen wisten een aantal geheimen te ontrafelen en enkelen zitten nog steeds met vragen. Dus... Wat is er gebeurd?

Rebellen van Sigillum

Er gingen geruchten dat er een rebel van Sigillum zou rondlopen op het bal. Sommige dachten dat dit onzin was - die konden hier toch niet binnenkomen? Dat zouden ze niet durven, zeker niet met de dappere ridder Philip op wacht! 

Maar tijdens de speech van Koningin Emmelina rond tien uur bleek dit toch de waarheid te zijn. Ze werd ruw onderbroken door Alina Frostripe - iemand die uitgenodigd was vanwege haar werk als schoenmaker. Alina uitte zichzelf als een rebel van Sigillum, trok het zwaard van de eerste rebellenleider, Willem van Naruthi, van de muur en eiste dat de koningin aftrad. 

Haar dappere ridder stapte naar voren om te vechten voor de koningin en de toekomst van het land. Dit had helaas dodelijke gevolgen voor hem.. Alina eiste dat de koningin aftrad en dat Kroonprinses Verona de troon bestijgt. Hiermee ging prinses Verona akkoord. Onze koningin was inmiddels gevlucht. 

De geschiedenis van Koning Ryland

Alina wist duidelijk iets wat niet iedereen wist; er zijn dagboeken van Koning Ryland waaruit blijkt dat hij een nare man was. Hij was niet bang om iemand uit de weg te laten ruimen. Delen van deze dagboeken waren te lezen. Maar dit was niet alles. Het blijkt ook dat zijn tweede dochter - prinses Shira - niet dood is. Dit was de mysterieuze 'S'. Ze hangt nog steeds rond in het koninkrijk, al praat ze niet graag over wie ze is of hoe het kan dat ze er nog steeds is.. 

Einde?

Als je de quest hebt doorlopen kon je bij onze historicus - Kathalijne den Elver - een brief ophalen. Binnen het koninkrijk van Halcyon - de wereld waarin onze evenementen zich afspelen - zijn er verschillende grote, oude en invloedrijke families. Hieronder staat een korte beschrijving van ieder 'huis', zoals ze ook wel genoemd worden. 

 

Van Flevum

Als oudste en grootste huis in Halcyon is deze vooraanstaande familie goed bekend. Alles wordt groots gevierd en dit is terug te zien in de karakters van de leden. Ze zijn vaak uitbundig en enthousiast terwijl ze ook vasthouden aan tradities. Zo leren de kinderen van jongs af aan etiquette en dansen. Bij voorkeur wordt er getrouwd met iemand van stand.

Motto: Trouw en traditie

 

Emelwerth

 Een kleiner, maar hecht huis binnen Halcyon. Niet iedereen kent elkaar, maar iedereen - familie of vreemde - wordt met open armen ontvangen. Ze staan erom bekend om de 'gewone bevolking' veel te helpen. Doordat dit huis veel grond bezit waar veelal landbouw of fruitbomen op geplaatst worden is dit goed mogelijk.

Motto: Ik ben als de aarde, uw naaste

 

Von Biddincheim

Een jonger huis dat nog niet zo bekend is en wellicht hierdoor nog iets te bewijzen heeft. Hierdoor komen de leden soms wat impulsief of te gretig over. Ze staan erom bekend goede inzichten in zaken te hebben en hebben hierdoor veel rijkdom weten te bemachtigen.

Motto: Ik zal staan

 

Van der Herderewich

 Een huis dat bekend staat om hun passie voor dieren en de natuur. Bij velen van de (land)huizen, villa's en andere plekken waar de leden wonen zijn grote parken aangelegd waar dieren opgevangen en verzorgd kunnen worden. Er is een minder hechte band voor elkaar - of voor mensen in het algemeen.

Motto: Van bos tot beer

 

Nakala

Dit huis staat bekend om hun moderniteit en open blik op Halcyon. Velen van hen zouden graag zien dat Halcyon 'meer met zijn tijd mee gaat', anderen zien ook de schoonheid in de tradities. De leden waarderen oprechtheid en zijn meestal erg open.

Motto: Open op de toekomst

 

Aladna

Grote feesten, gezellige drukte, rondzwaaien met hun weelde; een huis met veel 'nieuw geld' dat niet bang is om dit te laten zien. Ze bouwen graag banden op met andere families, personen of wezens uit welk gebied, land of wereld dan ook en zijn dan ook erg sociaal.

Motto: Vrienden, vertier, vernoegd

 

Van den Baerne

Een huis met wat meer teruggetrokken en rustige lieden. Tradities worden er gewaardeerd en gewaarborgd maar er wordt ook naar de toekomst gekeken. Het is een rijk huis zonder dit onder je neus te drukken. De leden zijn vaak vriendelijk, kalm, loyaal en behulpzaam. Ze staan bekend om hun liefde voor de kunsten.

Motto: Enkel tederheid is ware kracht

 

Ghesterne

Een wat kleiner huis met genoeg om rond te komen, met veel handelaren en ambachtslieden. Van weelde in overvloed is bij dit huis geen sprake, maar door hun goede connecties met de kroon en loyaliteit aan het hof zijn ze in de adelstand verheven. Het zijn vaak hardwerkende mensen die de waarde van hun geld inzien.

Motto: Vertrouwt den meester

 

De Hyllenkem

Een vrolijke, bloeiende gemeenschap van mensen die elkaar als familie zien. Lang niet iedereen is familie bij bloed, maar hier kijkt het huis overheen. Als je een gemeenschap nodig hebt die kansen bied kun je je hierbij aansluiten, de leden zorgen ervoor dat je naam toegevoegd wordt. Ze staan erom bekend om wat 'zweverig' over te kunnen komen.

Motto: Leven biedt lof, liefde doet leven

 

Naruthi

Het gerucht gaat dat dit huis een eeuwenlang geheim bewaard.. Er wordt gezegd dat leden van dit huis tegen het koningshuis vochten tijdens 'de slag om Lightide'. Ook is er een gerucht dat de rebellenleiders uit deze familie kwamen. Niemand weet zeker of dit waar is - ook de huidige leden niet. Ze staan bekend als rustige, slimme mensen met veel doorzettingsvermogen. Ze zijn sneller op zichzelf gericht en weten goed wat ze willen.

Motto: Ik zal er zijn

 

Wishem

Een familie die bekend staat om hun muzikale familieleden. Het zijn vaak zwijgzame mensen die liever hun instrument laten spreken dan hun eigen stem. Dit betekent echter niet dat deze mensen geen eigen mening hebben; integendeel! De leden van deze familie zijn op hun eigen manier uitgesprokener dan anderen. Ze zijn standvastig en trouw aan elkaar.  

Motto: Een noot voor ieder woord 

 

Den Falckenberch

Ambitieus, zelfverzekerd, natuurlijke leiders. De mensen uit deze familie weten heel goed hoe ze moeten krijgen wat ze willen en waar ze voor gaan. Ze zien snel kansen en weten snel te handelen. Ze onderzoeken (meestal) de feiten voordat ze hun eigen mening vormen en hiernaar handelen. Een aantal leden van het (voormalig) koninklijk huis is geboren uit deze familie. 

Motto: Tot het doel bereikt is

In het land van Halcyon kennen ze vele goden. Ter ere van hen organiseren ze in 2027 een bal. Hierbij zullen vijf goden en godinnen aanwezig zijn, begeleid door vier van hun priesters. Iedere god of godin heeft zijn eigen specialiteit, net als de priesters. Maar ook hier is niet alles wat het lijkt en kunnen kleine problemen grote gevolgen hebben... Wordt deel van het verhaal tijdens 'Halcyon; bal van de goden' en laat jouw keuzes de verhaallijn beïnvloeden en het einde veranderen!

Ontmoet de goden

God van het Duister 

Rustig, stil, en soms wat mysterieus. Deze god kent het duister als geen ander; zowel de mooie als de minder mooie kant. Sommigen zweren dat hij met één blik al je geheimen weet. Anderen zeggen dat hij bij hen was in hun donkerste momenten. 

God van de Mythische Wezens

Als god van de mythische wezens wordt hij vaak beschreven als vriendelijk, met een een groot hart. Hij geeft veel om ieder leven, wie of wat je dan ook bent. 

Godin van de Seizoenen

Deze godin kent vele kanten. Ze wordt soms als rustig en stil omschreven, maar ook als vriendelijk en uitbundig. Het is niet iemand die je boos wilt maken, want haar humeur is soms zo wispelturig als een herfststorm. 

Godin van de Astronomie 

Iedereen die interactie heeft gehad met deze godin weet dat ze wijs en vriendelijk is. Ze kent de sterren en het licht als geen ander. Net als het sterrenstelsel is haar nieuwsgierigheid oneindig. 

Godin van de Strijd

Deze godin word vaak genoemd als stoere en krachtige godin. Ze zal je altijd helpen in je gevechten. Het maakt niet uit of deze fysiek, mentaal of iets anders zijn. 

Ontmoet de priesters

De priesters en priesteressen in Halcyon zijn de snelste schakel tussen de inwoners en de goden. Als je vragen hebt of je twijfelt welke god of godin je het beste kunt aanspreken zullen zij altijd voor je klaar staan. Als een priester of priesteres klaar is om aan het werk te gaan wordt er een titel voor hen gekozen die past bij hun talenten. 

Priester van Toekomst

Deze priester weet precies wie je kan helpen om de toekomst te voorspellen. 

Priester van de Geheimen

Als je een geheim moet bewaren, ben je veilig hier. Ook als je zin hebt in een spelletje, is deze priester de persoon waar je moet zijn. 

Priester van het Verhaal

Een priester die alle verhalen van het koninkrijk kent, Ben je benieuwd naar de betekenis van een verhaal of raadsel? Deze priester helpt je graag verder. 

Priester van de Sympathie

Deze priester staat altijd voor je klaar om je overal mee te helpen. Voor je het weet zal ze je voorstellen om vriendschapsarmbandjes te maken voor jullie en je favoriete god(in). 

The History of the Halcyon Ball

Every year, a festival is celebrated in the Kingdom of Halcyon in honor of 'the Battle of Lightide'. This battle took place in August 256. It is still celebrated today—because the people of this kingdom love a good party. And can you blame them?

History books state that Halcyon was attacked by a group of rebels who wanted to seize power over the kingdom. They believed that the royal family should be overthrown and replaced by a democracy. However, according to many, this would not fit the kingdom and the traditions of the country. The people have a great deal of say, and the King and Queen listen to their people and take their opinions seriously.

The Battle of Lightide

During this battle, there were many wounded and dead on both sides. King Ryland, Queen Anissa, and three of their four children (Prince Alwin, Princess Shira, and Princess Yelena) were killed. Only Crown Princess Helena survived the battle. Prince Alwin and Princess Yelena are buried together. Unfortunately, Princess Shira's body was never found.

During the feast, all those who died are commemorated and the freedom of the kingdom is celebrated.

According to some, however, this battle did not happen as it is recorded in the history books. There are people who believe that the royal family had hired people to stage the battle. They think the family needed something grand to regain favor with the people. A major battle for the capital would be perfect for that.

What happened?

During the ball, the participants had the chance to uncover the mysteries surrounding the 'Battle of Lightide'. Some figured out exactly what happened, others managed to unravel a number of secrets, and a few are still left with questions. So... What happened?

Rebels from Sigillum

Rumors circulated that a rebel from Sigillum was walking around at the ball. Some thought this was nonsense—surely they couldn't get in? They wouldn't dare do that, certainly not with the brave knight Philip on guard!

But during Queen Emmelina's speech around ten o'clock, this turned out to be the truth after all. She was rudely interrupted by Alina Frostripe—someone who had been invited because of her work as a shoemaker. Alina presented herself as a rebel of Sigillum, pulled the sword of the first rebel leader, William of Naruthi, from the wall, and demanded that the queen abdicate.

Her brave knight stepped forward to fight for the queen and the future of the country. Unfortunately, this had deadly consequences for him. Alina demanded that the queen abdicate and that Crown Princess Verona ascend the throne. Princess Verona agreed to this. Our queen had meanwhile fled.

The history of King Ryland

Alina clearly knew something that not everyone knew; there are diaries of King Ryland showing that he was a nasty man. He was not afraid to have someone eliminated. Parts of these diaries were available to read. But this was not all. It also turns out that his second daughter – Princess Shira – is not dead. This was the mysterious 'S'. She is still hanging around the kingdom, although she doesn't like to talk about who she is or how it is possible that she is still there..

Within the kingdom of Halcyon—the world in which our events take place—there are several large, old, and influential families. Below is a brief description of each 'house', as they are also known.

Van Flevum

As the oldest and largest house in Halcyon, this prominent family is well-known. Everything is celebrated on a grand scale, and this is reflected in the characters of the members. They are often exuberant and enthusiastic while also holding fast to traditions. For instance, children learn etiquette and dancing from a young age. They prefer to marry someone of high social standing.

Motto: Loyalty and Tradition

Emelwerth

A smaller but close-knit house within Halcyon. Not everyone knows each other, but everyone—family or stranger—is welcomed with open arms. They are known for helping the 'common people' a great deal. Because this house owns a lot of land, which is mostly used for agriculture or fruit trees, this is easily possible.

Motto: I am like the earth, your neighbor

Von Biddincheim

A younger house that is not yet very well known and perhaps still has something to prove because of this. As a result, the members sometimes come across as somewhat impulsive or overly eager. They are known for having good business insights and have managed to acquire much wealth as a result.

Motto: I shall stand

Van der Herderewich

A house known for its passion for animals and nature. At many of the (country) houses, villas, and other places where the members live, large parks have been created where animals can be sheltered and cared for. There is a less close bond between them—or with people in general.

Motto: From forest to bear

Nakala

This house is known for its modernity and open view of Halcyon. Many of them would like to see Halcyon 'move more with the times', while others also see the beauty in the traditions. The members value sincerity and are usually very open.

Motto: Open to the future

Aladna

Grand parties, lively hustle and bustle, flaunting their wealth; a house with a lot of 'new money' that is not afraid to show it off. They enjoy building bonds with other families, individuals, or beings from any region, country, or world whatsoever, and are therefore very social.

Motto: Friends, entertainment, contentment

Van den Baerne

A house with somewhat more withdrawn and quiet people. Traditions are valued and upheld there, but they also look towards the future. It is a wealthy house without making a fuss about it. The members are often friendly, calm, loyal, and helpful. They are known for their love of the arts.

Motto: Only tenderness is true strength

Ghesterne

A somewhat smaller house with enough to make ends meet, featuring many merchants and artisans. There is no question of abundant wealth in this house, but due to their good connections with the crown and loyalty to the court, they have been elevated to the nobility. They are often hardworking people who recognize the value of their money.

Motto: Trust the Master

The Hyllenkem

A cheerful, thriving community of people who view each other as family. Not everyone is related by blood, but the house overlooks this. If you need a community that offers opportunities, you can join; the members ensure your name is added. They are known for potentially coming across as somewhat 'airy-fairy'.

Motto: Life offers praise, love gives life

Naruthi

Rumor goes that this house has kept a secret for centuries. It is said that members of this house fought against the royal house during 'the Battle of Lightide'. There is also a rumor that the rebel leaders came from this family. No one knows for sure if this is true—not even the current members. They are known as quiet, intelligent people with great perseverance. They are more focused on themselves and know exactly what they want.

Wishem

A family known for its musical relatives. They are often taciturn people who prefer to let their instrument do the talking rather than their own voice. However, this does not mean that these people lack their own opinions; on the contrary! The members of this family are, in their own way, more outspoken than others. They are steadfast and loyal to one another.

Motto: A note for every word

Den Falckenberch

Ambitious, self-confident, natural leaders. The people from this family know very well how to get what they want and what they strive for. They spot opportunities quickly and know how to act fast. They (usually) investigate the facts before forming their own opinion and acting accordingly. A number of members of the (former) royal house were born into this family.

Motto: Until the goal is reached

In the land of Halcyon, there are many gods. In their honor, they are organizing a ball in 2027. Five gods and goddesses will be present, accompanied by four of their priests. Each god or goddess has their own specialty, just like the priests. But here, too, not everything is as it seems, and small problems can have major consequences... Become part of the story during 'Halcyon; ball of the gods' and let your choices influence the storyline and change the ending!

God of mythical creatures

As the god of mythical creatures, he is often described as kind and generous. She cares deeply about every life, no matter who or what you are.

Goddess of the Seasons

This goddess has many facets. She is sometimes described as calm and quiet, but also as kind and exuberant. She's not someone you want to anger, as her moods can be as fickle as an autumn storm.

Goddess of Astronomy

Anyone who has interacted with this godess knows she is wise and kind. She knows the stars and their light like no other. Like the galaxy, her curiosity is infinite.

Goddess of Battle

This godess is often referred to as a tough and powerful goddess. She will always help you in your battles, whether they are physical, mental, or otherwise.

Meet the Priests

The priests and priestesses of Halcyon are the fastest link between the people and the gods. If you have questions or are unsure which god or goddess to address, they will always be there to help. When a priest or priestess is ready to begin their work, a title is chosen for them that suits their tales.
